- Title: IBM PC Compatibility with Remote Reset Boot EPROMs
-
- Prior to Advanced NetWare version 2.0, the Remote System Reset
- feature was only supported on IBM brand PC workstations. Because
- of some changes that were made to the code in the Advanced
- NetWare Remote Reset Boot EPROMs versions 2.0 and above, some
- IBM PC compatible machines can now be used as workstations with
- the Remote System Reset feature.
-
- The ROM BIOS requirements for the Remote System Reset feature in
- IBM PC compatibles are as follows:
-
- 1.When the PC is powered up, the BIOS must search the
- User ROM Address Area. If a User ROM is found, the
- BIOS then must make a subroutine call on the User ROM
- (CS:03). A return to the BIOS will be made from the User
- ROM. See the IBM Technical Reference Manual for a
- detailed description of the User ROM area and
- specifications.
-
- 2.After the BIOS finishes all its initialization and its
- diagnostics, it must execute an INT 19h instruction (Boot
- Strap Loader).
-
- For information concerning your ROM BIOS, contact your PC
- supplier/manufacturer to confirm whether your PC supports
- these features.
-
- Limited testing at Novell indicates that the Compaq PC portables, the
- Sperry PC, the Santa Clara PC terminal, and the PC Solutions PC will
- work with Advanced NetWare Remote Reset Boot EPROMs versions 2.0
- and above.
