  4. Title:  IBM PC Compatibility with Remote Reset Boot EPROMs

  6. Prior to Advanced NetWare version 2.0, the Remote System Reset
  7. feature was only supported on IBM brand PC workstations.  Because
  8. of some changes that were made to the code in the Advanced
  9. NetWare Remote Reset Boot EPROMs versions 2.0 and above, some
  10. IBM PC compatible machines can now be used as workstations with
  11. the Remote System Reset feature.

  13. The ROM BIOS requirements for the Remote System Reset feature in
  14. IBM PC compatibles are as follows:

  16. 1.When the PC is powered up, the BIOS must search the
  17. User ROM Address Area.  If a User ROM is found, the
  18. BIOS then must make a subroutine call on the User ROM
  19. (CS:03).  A return to the BIOS will be made from the User
  20. ROM.  See the IBM Technical Reference Manual for a
  21. detailed description of the User ROM area and
  22. specifications.

  24. 2.After the BIOS finishes all its initialization and its
  25. diagnostics, it must execute an INT 19h instruction (Boot
  26. Strap Loader).

  28. For information concerning your ROM BIOS, contact your PC
  29. supplier/manufacturer to confirm whether your PC supports
  30. these features.

  32. Limited testing at Novell indicates that the Compaq PC portables, the
  33. Sperry PC, the Santa Clara PC terminal, and the PC Solutions PC will
  34. work with Advanced NetWare Remote Reset Boot EPROMs versions 2.0
  35. and above.
